School teacher scores try from the Gods in appalling conditions

A try scored by the Vale of Lune RFC has become one of the most viewed rugby videos on TikTok in the past week, as Damon Hall somehow evaded an abundance of opponents in atrocious conditions.

The try has garnered more than 372,000 views on England Rugby's TikTok account. It is one of the most viewed rugby videos on the platform in the last seven days.

The try was scored in a match between Birkenhead Park RFC and the Vale of Lune in the Wirral last month.

The move starts off with Hall knocking a chip-and-chase kick over an opposing player. It bounces kindly on the truly dire turf and he collects the ball. Somehow he manages to gas it through a small gap between two players.

Hall faces up to the last man with ball in hand and does yet another chip-and-chase and rounds the defender. With one player chasing back and haring down at his heels, he kicks the ball first time and dives on to it as it crosses the whitewash.

The abysmal conditions are summed up by the rain lashing down in front of the camera as the try-scorer celebrates.

The 29-year-old try-scorer has been labelled by the team's press secretary as their "star player" and he is happy to see that Hall's "latest display of ingenuity" has been doing the rounds.

"During the week he is a grammar school teacher," they said. "However, on Saturday he plays for the Vale of Lune 1st XV, currently in the NW2 (Regional Two North-West) League.

"Damon is usually selected at full-back but his versatility has taken him into all back roles to great effect."

Despite Damon's piece of rugby brilliance, it wasn't to be for the Vale of Lune, who lost 35-19.

Viewers have been loving his effort. "What a score!" said one. "That's difficult in perfect conditions," said another.
