A West Lothian primary school has shown it’s tops thanks to some eye-catching artwork.
Mid Calder Primary have a striking new, vividly-coloured display on their fence, made up of over a 1000 recycled bottle tops.
The display was originally planned as part of the village gala celebration, which was to have a theme of Save the Planet this year.
With the gala event no longer taking place, four Mid Calder families decided to continue with the project and display at the school.
Each family completed a panel with over 300 bottle tops, include some posted from far and wide to allow them to complete their sections, which were joined together to make the fantastic finished display.
The children involved were: Ewan Verhaaf (P2) ably assisted by Logan Verhaaf (Nursery); Molly Scott (P2) ably assisted by Erin Scott (Nursery); Flynn Keating (P2) ably assisted by Hope Keating (Nursery) and Cameron Mcmillan (P1); with support from their parents.
Mid Calder head teacher Hazel Thurlow said: “I am immensely proud of our young children and families from our local community, who continue to create uplifting gestures to bring a smile to those who pass by our school.
“Huge thanks to all the families involved, although one of the parents involved has told me that she never wants to see another bottle top again!”
