Police have issued a warning after a man approached a pupil walking to school alone and told her he had come to collect her on behalf of her parents, before following her.
The incident involving the Morriston Comprehensive pupil took place on the morning of Monday, March 7.
She encountered the man in the lane between the leisure centre and the rugby club.
In a message sent to parents, the school wrote: "The man told her that her parents had asked him to collect her on their behalf. When she continued to walk to school, he proceeded to follow her until she arrived safely at the school gates.
"We have reported the incident to police. They have advised that, where possible, pupils should be walking in pairs or groups and that pupils need to report anything suspicious to their parent/carer or the school. We will also speak to the children about this incident and keeping themselves safe and we would appreciate it if this could be reiterated at home".
South Wales Police said it was called to the 'suspicious incident' near Morriston Comprehensive at around 11am on Monday morning.
A spokesman said: "Officers are continuing with their enquiries to establish the full circumstances behind the event, which includes house to house enquiries and the assessment of CCTV.
"Anyone with any information about the incident should contact us by one of the following means, quoting occurrence number 2200076157".
