School 'punish girl for showing ankle' in uniform as 'trousers too short', mum says

A mum says her daughter is being punished by teachers for showing "too much ankle".

Lea Scott, whose daughter Paige Bradwell is in Year 10 and says she believes her school's uniform policy is unfair.

Ms Scott, 33, of Edwalton, Nottinghamshire, claims Paige is regularly told off and even pulled out of lessons by teachers who tell her that her trousers are too short.

Ms Scott told Nottinghamshire Live : "She's grown a bit in the last few months - by the sounds of it lots of students are being punished because of issues like this.

"In my opinion, the school is just a bit backwards. She can wear a skirt but not trousers that are slightly short?"

In Rushcliffe School's uniform policy, it states that pupils are expected to wear the school's uniform "with pride".

It says trousers are expected to be "plain style covering the ankle and the sock" and they "must touch the top of the shoe".

Lea continued: "I am a single parent with another child on the way, buying uniform all the time is expensive. I just don't know what to do anymore - it's an ongoing battle.

"They've really come down on it in the last few months. I think she was showing a centimetre and a half of ankle - that's how pedantic they are being.

"She's being taken out of lessons and put in isolation rooms for the whole day. I think it's appalling."

Mirror Online has approached Rushcliffe School for a comment.
