The parent council of an Airdrie school enjoyed a sweet success as generous pupils, staff and members of the community shelled out to help St Andrew's Hospice.
The organisation at Calderbank Primary held a Smartie tube collection in aid of the Airdrie hospice, which involved everyone at the school joining forces in colourful fashion.
And thanks to the kindness of the chocolate-loving participants, the group was able to raise just over £494.
The school selected its youngest and oldest pupils - Leon Devine of P1 and Primary Seven youngster Emily Drage - to present the donation to delighted staff at the hospice.
A spokesperson for Calderbank Primary told Lanarkshire Live : "This was a fantastic idea, and gesture, from our parent council and it really was a magnificent success.
"Leon and Emily loved presenting the cheque to the hospice and you could see how much it meant to the staff there, who do such a wonderful job caring for people.
"The school wishes to thank the parent council, and everyone who contributed to the final total."
