School kids at Dunvant Primary School told to isolate after classmate tests positive for coronavirus

A class of children and teaching staff at a Swansea school are self-isolating after a pupil tested positive for coronavirus.

30 pupils and two members of staff at Dunvant Primary School have been identified as close contacts of the child and have been asked to isolate.

Letters have been sent to affected parents at the school to advise them of what they need to do.

The rest of the school is operating as normal and the headteacher has sent letters to parents of other children in the school, advising them that they can still attend school as usual.

Swansea Council confirmed that it is working closely with Public Health Wales and the NHS Wales Test Trace and Protect service to make sure that measures are in place to protect students, staff and the wider community.

A spokesman for the council said: "All close contacts of the case have been identified and have received appropriate advice to self-isolate.

"Children who have not been identified as a close contact do not need to self-isolate and do not require testing for the virus."

This comes after a Neath Port Talbot school confirmed yesterday that a year group had gone into self-isolation.

Dŵr y Felin Comprehensive School stated that one of its pupils had tested positive for coronavirus.
