School issues stranger danger warning after 'two men in Ford Focus approach pupils'

Parents have been warned after 'two men in a Ford Focus approached pupils' outside a school in Wigan.

St John Fisher Catholic High School has urged pupils to be 'vigilant' following two reported incidents in recent days.

In a statement - titled 'IMPORTANT: STRANGER DANGER' - posted on Facebook, the school said the pupils were approached by the men on Sunday evening and Monday morning.

The post, which was sent out yesterday afternoon, read: "We have been notified by a parent that two Asian men in a silver ford focus have approached one of our pupils this morning and also yesterday evening at the bottom of Baytree Road.

"The pupil is absolutely fine but we have given this message to all our pupils this afternoon and reminded them to be vigilant and to stay in groups if possible.

"The incident has been reported to the police."

The alert comes after Standish Community High School recently issued a series of warning to parents following reports of a number of men 'acting suspiciously' outside its gates.

Police patrols have been stepped up at the school, in Kenyon Road, as officers investigate three reports of a 'suspicious male approaching and filming pupils'.

In the meantime, worried teachers have urged students to travel to school in groups.
