School guard slain by motorcycle gunman in Pattani

PATTANI: An elderly villager was killed in a drive-by shooting in Khok Pho district on Wednesday morning.

Ma-ae Sale, employed under the state-run urgent employment project, was gunned down while riding a motorcycle from his home to his workplace at Ban Khlong Hin school, police said.

The 64-year-old worked as a security guard at the school.

Police said a man on a motorcycle attacked Ma-ae, shooting him seven times  - in the face and body -  using two pistols.

Investigators believe a local insurgent group was behind the attack
