An Ayrshire school has been closed to pupils today following an electrical fire which broke out last night.
Garnock Community Campus, in Beith, closed its doors to pupils after a small electrical fire in the school's server room activated the sprinkler system late on Sunday evening.
No casualties have been reported. However, it has not been made clear when the school will reopen.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “A minor electrical fire at Garnock Community Campus activated the sprinkler system late on Sunday evening.
“The small fire was contained and successfully extinguished. However, it has been necessary for the Campus to remain closed today to allow a full inspection and safety checks to take place and to ensure all of our systems are operating normally.
“Parents/carers were informed this morning at 7am and we will provide them with further updates as soon as we have them. School staff will maintain educational delivery through established remote channels.”
