School admits guilt over staffer's death

Haileybury College has admitted health and safety breaches over the death of a groundskeeper. (AAP)

A Melbourne school has admitted health and safety breaches over the death of a groundskeeper struck by a falling tree branch three years ago.

Kym Page died at Haileybury College's Berwick campus on February 14, 2018, in what the school described as a "tragic accident".

Haileybury pleaded guilty in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday to two counts of failing to provide a safe work environment.

Documents released by the court said there was a risk of serious injury or death to employees while cutting trees, this wasn't managed appropriately and adequate personal protective equipment wasn't provided.

The case is due in the County Court on November 24.
