Schitt's Creek star Dan Levy says 'fingers crossed' to film as final season dominates at Emmys

Dan Levy has discussed the possibility of creating a Schitt’s Creek film after the show swept up at last night’s (20 September) Emmys.

The Canadian sitcom dominated during Sunday night’s ceremony, taking home seven awards.

All four of the show’s leads – Levy, his father Eugene, Catherine O’Hara, and Annie Murphy – were awarded in acting categories, with the show also taking home the prize for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Appearing at the ceremony’s virtual backstage area, Levy, who not only stars in but also co-created Schitt’s Creek, discussed the possibility of reviving the recently ended series in film format.

“Here’s the thing: Some people have been asking that,” Levy said. “If there is an idea that pops into my head and worthy of these wonderful people, it has to be really freaking good at this point.”

The actor, who plays David Rose, insisted that the series final was “the best way we could’ve ever ended the show”, but added that he would bring the show back for the right idea.

“Fingers crossed that we get a really good idea coming into our heads soon,” he said. “I would love to work with these beautiful people again. This has been the most incredible experience.”

Schitt’s Creek follows the wealthy and eccentric Rose family who are forced to relocate to a small town – the titular Schitt’s Creek – that they previously bought as a joke.

Eugene Levy plays Rose family patriarch Johnny, while his long-time collaborator O’Hara stars as fading actor Moira. Dan Levy plays son David, while Murphy is his spoiled sibling Alexis.

All six seasons of Schitt’s Creek are available to stream on Netflix.
