Schenn scores in third to help Blues edge Hurricanes, 2-1

RALEIGH, N.C. _ Brayden Schenn put in a rebound with 9:19 to go in the third period to help lift the Blues to a 2-1 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.

The Blues improved to 8-2-1 on the season and have a point in five straight games. The Blues are at home on Saturday night to face Columbus.

Carter Hutton ran his record to 3-0 in goal this season, with all three wins coming on the road.

Dmitrij Jaskin's goal in the second period put the Blues ahead, but it was just 64 seconds later that Carolina tied the game.

Schenn's goal came 41 seconds after the Blues had been called for their only penalty of the game, on Vladimir Tarasenko. Tarasenko came out of the box and the Blues were able to have a long possession in the Carolina end. Jaden Schwartz took a shot that was blocked but Schenn got the puck and put it in for his third goal of the season. Schwartz and Tarasenko got assists; Schwartz now has a point in all but one game this season. Tarasenko has a point in all but two games.

Jeff Skinner scored the Hurricanes' goal.
