ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Detroit Lions shutdown corner Darius Slay will report to training camp on time with his teammates.
With Damon Harrison also notifying the media yesterday that he “will be there” at training camp, the Lions get two of their most impactful pieces on the entire roster back.
This also dispels the false national narrative that the players were holding out in Detroit because of culture when both had clearly said it was a money issue the entire time.
Both Slay and Harrison have two years remaining on their current deals and the Lions met with their agent Drew Rosenhaus last week, so it’s possible a contract extension or modification is still in the works, but for now, it appears both players will report without a new deal in place.
