Scheffler chases triple strike at HWC

NASSAU (BAHAMAS): Scottie Scheffler was seeking a triple strike as he chased leader Viktor Hovland and trained his sights on winning the Hero World Challenge and with it, take back the World No. 1 ranking.

Braving strong winds a t Albany on the second day of the HWC, Scheffler, starting Day 2 three shots behind the leaders, moved to within one after two rounds. He carded the day's equal best of 4-under 68 to move to tied second place alongside three others.

As Scheffler (72-68) moved into a crowded second, Hovland (69-70) continued his strong title defense with a round th at included yet another eagle – this time a slam dunk effort with a pitching wedge from about 85 yards on the par-5 sixth. It was his second eagle in as many rounds and fifth in six rounds here where he debuted and won last year.

Hovland was 5-under while Scheffler moved to 4-under alongside Xander Schauffele(72-68), Collin Morikawa (71-69) and Cameron Yo u ng (71-69).

Tom Kim, the latest sensation to take world golf by storm, continued to do so with agritty even par 72 in tough scoring conditions.

Justin Thomas (70-72), who has had great success in limited field events, is sole seve nth, one behind Tom Kim, while Sepp Straka, one of the four co-leaders, slipped to tied eighth with Billy Horschel. Matt Fitzpatrick (74-70), Jon Rahm (7371) and Tony Finau (72-72) were all tied tenth.
