Newcastle United fans have been reacting to Harry Maguire's impending move to Manchester United.
According to reports on Friday afternoon, Leicester City have agreed a £85m deal for the England international, in what is set to be a world record transfer fee for a defender, surpassing the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk.
But for many Newcastle fans on social media, the fee the Red Devils are forking out for the 26-year-old is seen as ludicrous, with many pointing out at how much their own backline would cost in today's market.
One fan wrote: "We got Lejeune and Schar for £11.5m. Brilliant business by comparison. Like Maguire but £85m is a ridiculous price."
Before another added: "Harry Maguire - £85 million. Fabian Schar - £3.5 million. I know which one I’d rather have."
