The Sydney Cricket Ground's outfield, rather than pitch, will likely have more influence over Monday's T20 Regional Bash semi-final between the Newcastle Blasters and Lake Mac Attack according to representative coach Shane Burley.
With both teams previously tasting success in the Country NSW tournament and having kept an eye on the weekend's Big Bash League decider at the same venue, Burley said the "short side" of the field and opposing space would be considerations while out in the middle for both bat and ball.
"The preparation of our wicket square is different [to BBL, Tests] and is out wider, the main difference will be the bigger ground and the shorter side coming into play," Burley said.
"The SCG dimensions are about the same as No.1 Sportsground [Newcastle] but it's bigger than a lot of club grounds. It means there's a lot of twos and threes on the longer side and you've got to be conscience of the shorter side, both as a bowler and batsman."
Monday marks the first time the Blasters and Attack, who train together and hail from the Newcastle district competition, have met at the SCG in the last four.
"They are fairly evenly matched sides so it will just come down to who executes better on the day," Burley said.
Nick Foster (Blasters) and Adrian Chad (Attack) are the respective captains.
Play gets underway at 10am. The Orana Outlaws and ACT Aces clash in the other semi (2pm). Winners progress to the grand final (6pm).
