Sceptical This Morning viewers baffled by cat that 'plays dead' for attention

This Morning viewers were left dumbstruck and scratching their heads after a cat who is said to 'play dead for attention', took centre stage on the show on Tuesday.

Right at the top of the show, hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, themselves looking utterly baffled, revealed that they would be speaking to a pet owner Lesley who claims her cat likes playing dead.

An hour later both Linda and Lolly were on screen, with Linda explaining that she has had to go as far as putting posters up around her home town of Banbury to warn people that Lolly like to play dead when she actually isn't.

Like many ITV viewers at home, an animal expert, appeared on This Morning via video call, said he wasn't sure that Lolly wasn't pretending to be dead, rather that she suffered from narcolepsy - a a chronic sleep disorder characterised by overwhelming daytime drowsiness and sudden attacks of sleep.

Lesley also revealed that Lolly was 80 in human years, once again adding fuel to viewer theories that she is just tired not trying to play dead.

One tweeted: "so that cat is just old," and another reacted: "It’s pretty obvious to tell if a cat is dead or alive."

Others took aim at owner Lesley, with one blasting: "Just let the cat have some sleep!" and another tweeted: "My cat died in May, 16 years old... you can tell the difference between a dead cat and one that's alive."

And others criticised show bosses for giving the feature airtime. One ranted: "Surely there’s more going on in the world than a cat that sleeps with it’s f*****g tongue out," and, in agreement, another commented: "How do they get telly time!! It’s a f*ckin run of the mill f***in cat!! Cmon ITV what’s happening."
