Scene sealed off after Gardai evacuate around 30 families from Rathfarnham apartments

Around 30 families were evacuated from their homes in Rathfarnham yesterday after a car park of an apartment complex caught fire.

The incident, which left many homes ruined, happened on Sunday morning in the early hours of 4am.

Six units and an emergency ambulance were called to the underground fire and gardai were also alerted to the apartment fire on Edmonstown Road while on patrol.

One person was treated in Tallaght University Hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation.

Breathing apparatus teams fought the fire and discovered vehicles alight in the car park.

ESB and Gas Network Ireland also assisted at the scene which is currently preserved with investigations ongoing.
