Scene in Welsh village battered by heavy rain all weekend

This was the state of a village on Sunday after torrential rain battered parts of Wales.

The clip above shows the effects of the Afon Aber in Gwynedd bursting its banks for the second time since August, leaving nearby residents calling for something to be done.

The region was hit by torrential downpours on Sunday as the Met Office had the entire country under an amber warning for rain and the above video shows a huge swathe of water cutting through the village of Abergwyngregyn.

Homes were flooded and roads were left impassible as a result of the torrent, reports North Wales Live.

When the village was flooded back in August a total of 14 people were taken to safety by fire crews.

Resident Sion Wynne said dredging had taken place further up the river but called for more to take place along the stretch of water near to the village.

He said: "There's people who were moved out of their properties [after flooding in August] and they've still not been able to return.

"If they were to dredge a good portion of the river it would be beneficial to the bottom half of the village at least.

"To my knowledge it hasn't been dredged before and I have lived here most of my life.

"I was speaking to another local who hasn't seen it this bad since the 1950s."

He added: "We have all got concerns. Questions need to be answered now about why it's happened again.

"It's getting beyond a joke now."
