Scattered rain in north Bihar for next 3 days

PATNA: North Bihar may witness thunderstorm, including gusty winds and lightning activities, over the next three days, said officials at the Patna meteorological centre on Wednesday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued forecast for isolated to scattered rainfall in the state over the next five days.

In the late noon hours, gusty winds blowing at an average speed of around 20-25kmph hit the state capital, forcing motorists to switch on headlights of their vehicles and others to take shelter. Trace rainfall (less than 0.1mm) was also reported in the city.

Weathermen attributed the gusty winds to a cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh. "The already existing weather factors, including high temperature levels along with humidity, supported formation of gusty winds," said an official at Patna Met centre. An all- India weather bulletin issued by IMD stated isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorm or lightning or gusty winds likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during next five days.

On Tuesday, south-west monsoon further advanced into some parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, entire Kerala and entire south-east and some more parts of south-west Bay of Bengal. Conditions are favourable for its further advancement over some parts of Konkan and Goa, sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim over the next two days.
