Scary scenes as Dublin city street closed off and man rushed to hospital after car smashes into store

One man was rushed to hospital last night following a frightening single-car collision in Dublin City.

The car involved in the tip smashed into the David Marshall Hair Salon and Grafton Guesthouse buildings on South Great George's Street just before 11pm.

The driver managed to bypass two postboxes on the footpath to slam into the shop front with the back of the car.

The scene was closed off for a time last night with the man in his 40s taken to St James's Hospital.

He is still currently receiving treatment there but his condition is described as not life threatening.

Garda have launched an investigation into the smash and are appealing for witnesses.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a road traffic collision where a vehicle struck a premises at 3rd November at 11.15pm.

"A man in his 40 suffered what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries and was taken to St James Hospital for treatment.

"No further information is available at this time and investigations are ongoing."
