Dramatic footage show a ferry lurching from side to side as it battled high winds and violent waves from Storm Dennis.
Heart-stopping footage shows how the CalMac ferry was buffeted by 80mph crosswinds as it tried to find port in Androssan Harbour, Scotland, on Friday.
The crew of the MV Caledonian Isles were forced to take evasive action during the incident and have since been praised for their skillful navigation.
The clip was filmed by local William Campbell who later boarded the ferry and described his journey as a "wee bit choppy".
The long haulage driver told the BBC that he was he was used to rough weather but speculated that some would-be visitors might have been put off.
The managing director of CalMac, Robbie Drummond, wrote on Twitter: "All credit to the skill of our Masters and one to consider for those pressing CalMac to take more risk. Safety of our passengers and crew is always our top priority."
Storm Dennis is continuing to batter the country with some areas reporting a month's worth of rain in the space of 48 hours over the weekend.
At about 11am on Sunday there were 250 flood warnings, meaning immediate action is required, and 344 flood alerts warning people to be prepared, covering an area from Scotland's River Tweed to the rivers of west Cornwall.
Flights have been grounded for safety reasons, with British Airways and easyJet confirming cancellations.
More than 230 easyJet flights in and out of the UK on Saturday were cancelled, while several sporting fixtures were also called off due to the weather.
