Scarlett Moffatt tells how an emergency police call led to her getting together with boyfriend Scott

TV favourite Scarlett Moffatt has told how an emergency call led to her getting together with partner Scott Dobinson.

The I'm A Celebrity winner, from Bishop Auckland, County Durham, had been spooked one night by the sight of a stranger outside her home and called the police, reports The Mirror.

And she was in for an arresting sight when the police officer who turned up to investigate was 'fit' officer Scott.

The meeting sparked a romance which is still going strong, with her boyfriend among select guests at a party arranged by Scarlett for her mam Betty's 50th birthday party last summer, when limited numbers were allowed under Covid 19-guidelines at the time.

And it seems that it was Scarlett who got the romance started.

She said the pair had known each other prior to her call-out but explaining how they got together in 2018 she said: "I had a weird pap who was trying to take photos inside my house so I rang the local police station," said The Mirror.

"Scott came to the house to deal with that.

“My friend was in the house with me at the time and I was like ‘he’s so fit, I really fancy him'. She said, ‘Why don’t you just comment on a picture on Facebook?'

"I commented on a picture of him and his dog Toby and put 'ah, cute… and the dog'. I’d had a couple of drinks."

She added: "In the morning, I was like ‘I can’t believe I’ve done that'! But he commented back with a smiley face and we started chatting on Facebook Messenger. We’d known each other a long time."

Scarlett, who first shot to fame on TV's Gogglebox where her family were one-time regulars on the reality show, said Scott took “too long” to ask her out and then their first date did not exactly go to plan.

The Mirror reports she told a podcast: “Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong.

"The place we were going to eat at wasn’t open and he made a joke about taking me to McDonald’s, which I didn’t know was a joke.

“He told me I reminded him of Albert Einstein so I was like ‘nah, I think we’re just best as friends’.

“It was my mam that went, ‘I’ve got a good feeling, I think you should give him another chance’ - so I’m pleased she did.

"With Scott, obviously I fancy him but he’s just a lovely person. It’s taken me a while to get used to not having drama.”
