Scarlett Moffatt reveals why she 'purposely put weight on' after doing fitness DVD

Scarlett Moffatt has revealed why she purposely put weight on after filming her chart-topping fitness DVD a few years ago.

Ahead of winning I'm A Celebrity at the end of 2016, former Gogglebox star Scarlett shot the Superslim Me Plan DVD, dropping six dress sizes in the past six months, going from a size 18 to a size 8.

Upon release over the Christmas period, the DVD became a big hit with plenty of people looking to shed some festive pounds. But appearing on Frankie Bridge's podcast Open Mind this week, Scarlett revealed her huge regret at doing it.

She told the former Saturdays singer: "I slowly realised it was quite detrimental to my mental health. In hindsight, it was just the worst thing that I have done.

Opening up about how she felt about seeing the before and after pictures, Scarlett added: "Not only were they bad for my peace of mind, it wasn't really good for other people, because now I look like my 'before' picture again.

"I sort of rebelled against the DVD because I just didn't like how it happened and I just wasn't for it anymore.

"I purposefully started putting weight on. I was sort of like, 'If I get big again it can't get brought up. I can't have this stigma attached to me about this DVD and people will stop buying it.'"

Rumours circulated that County Durham lass Scarlett's drastic weight loss was a result of an intense, gruelling fitness regime, something she still denies to this day, with the ex-Saturday Night Takeaway co-host, explaining: "I had to cut out a lot of food from what I was normally eating.

"I think now that is what I want to try to say to people – 'please don't think that you can just own this DVD and then instantly you can lose that amount of weight, it is a lot of pressure and it is a lot of work'."
