Former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt has opened up about how she came to be on the hit Channel 4 show and how much she was paid.
The 29-year-old County Durham star has revealed all about the programme that shot her to TV fame in an interview with Grazia, where she also told the magazine how she rang Samaritans after vile online bullies left her not wanting to leave the house for days on end.
Scarlett, mam Betty and dad Mark first appeared on Gogglebox in 2014, after Scarlett had appeared in short-lived MTV series Beauty School Copouts alongside Jeremy McConnell, who then famously got together with Stephanie Davis on Celebrity Big Brother.
And telling Grazia how the Gogglebox job came out, Scarlett, who now lives back in her native North East after a stint in London, said: " I never planned to be on TV. I was 23 and working in Asda when my friend Tommy asked me about Gogglebox.
"He worked on the show and couldn’t find anyone to audition in the north east so asked if I’d do it, to help him out.
"I went down to the auditions and my mum came during her lunch hour, too. The next day they said they wanted us on the show and we had two days to decide. ‘It’s £50 and a free takeaway, what’s the worst that can happen?’ I remember thinking."
However, while millions of viewers quickly took to The Moffatts and other Gogglebox regulars, it didn't take long for others to have a go at Scarlett, with being the target for vicious bullies who called her ugly, fat and stupid, hitting her hard and almost leading to her quitting the show.
When she eventually did step away from the Gogglebox sofa, it was to go into I'm A Celebrity, where she became Queen of the Jungle at the end of 2016.
Since then she has appeared on the likes of Saturday Night Takeaway, Extra Camp, Virtually Famous and the new series of Celebrity Bake Off.
