Scarlett Moffatt on beating Twitter trolls, her new boyfriend and those Strictly Come Dancing rumours

She won our hearts in the jungle but now Scarlett Moffatt has opened hers as she reveals how she deals with body-shaming Twitter trolls.

The former Gogglebox star is no stranger to nasty comments on social media about her appearance and weight.

And last year the 27-year-old, posted a series of tweets admitting she’d been left in tears after she received abuse online because of her appearance.

The County Durham lass said she was “constantly being attacked” because of her size and appearance.

But on ITV’s Lorraine on Thursday, Scarlett revealed how she deals with it - she simply switches off her phone and watches the TV.

“On Sunday, me and my family or me and my friends watch the telly,” she explained.

“When it was Peter Kay’s Car Share finale we all had a big night of it and got prosecco and stuff. And we don’t go on our phones for that one Sunday.

“It’s a time to just shut off and forget about things. And what we do is when we order a takeaway, if somebody looks at the phone, they have to pay for everyone’s takeaway.

“When money’s involved, no one wants to pick up a phone.”

Scarlett also says that she resists going onto her phone first thing in the morning - instead opting for a cuppa.

She said: “The first thing I do in the morning now is get up and make a cup of tea and put the TV on rather than look at my phone, because I think that can become dangerous.”

Sporting new grey extensions in her hair, the former I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner explained that her weight struggle was because she was not happy on the inside.

“No one can admit hand on heart that they are 100 per cent happy with themselves, but I think you’ve just got to be happy in yourself, and then that reflects on the outside,” she said.

Thankfully the TV personality is happy with a new ‘normal’ fella, who loves her just the way she is.

“I keep saying to people, he’s so normal. Everyone’s like, that’s not a good descriptive word. But it is for me.

“My mam is ecstatic that I am with a normal person, he’s a policeman. He’s got a really nice family as well. He’s just a nice person.”

Speaking of future TV roles, Scarlett said she’d jump at the chance of a spot on Strictly Come Dancing , but worried she may be ‘hated’ due to her dance background.

“I would love it. But I feel like because I can already dance, would people hate me for that? I haven’t danced for eight years. Sign me up!
