Scarlett Moffatt hits out at 'disgusting' paparazzi over swimsuit photos with defiant Instagram post

Scarlett Moffatt has hit out at the paparazzi photographer who snapped her in a swimming costume while she was on holiday, in a defiant response on Instagram which has been met with widespread praise from fellow celebrities and fans.

After receiving critical acclaim for her recent Channel 4 documentary about Tourette's, County Durham born star Scarlett has been enjoying a break away in Marbella with younger sister Ava. She has been sharing snapshots of her holiday with her many social media followers but one thing the 32-year-old was not expecting, was for candid shots of her relaxing around the hotel pool to be taken and then published online.

And Scarlett, who first shot to TV fame in 2014 on Gogglebox before going onto win I'm A Celebrity two years later, has now reacted to the photos, by sharing them on her own Instagram grid, along with a written response which has been applauded by her followers and famous friends for its inspiring message and tone.

Addressing the situation head on, Scarlett wrote: "To the disgusting pap who snuck into the hotel to take photos of me with my little sister. I ain’t ashamed of my body, yes they’re not the most flattering pictures but baby I’m living my best life this is a reminder to be kind about your own body and never let it stop you from doing the things you love."

Among the many to comment on the post was Charlotte Crosby, who wrote: "Makes me even more angry that your with your little sis enjoying private fam time! You look amazing," while This Morning presenter Alison Hammond reacted: "Yes Queen," and Strictly and Loose Women favourite Judi Love told her: "And we love seeing you live your best life Queen"

Scarlett echoed similar sentiments in a video she filmed for her Instagram story, which she began: "I wanted to start with a massive positive and I'm talking about THAT pap pic that I've posted. I've just spent the last hour reading through all of your comments and my heart is genuinely, genuinely full to the brim of love, of happiness, of confidence that, actually, we are changing as a society in what we want to see in the press and we are taking people's feelings into consideration.

Moving onto how intrusive the photographer's behaviour was on sister Ava, Scarlett continued: "I understand that when you're in the public eye you did have to give a little bit of your privacy away and I've come to peace with that, however I don't often post about my little sister for the very reason that she isn't in this industry and I do think that there is a time and a place for paps.

"And it did make me feel very uncomfortable to know that some bloke was taking a photo of my little sister and we were on that trip. because she's just turned 16 and she was in a swimsuit and it does make me feel uncomfortable."

Discussing one of the articles written about the pictures, Scarlett added: "I know that the article was trying to have jibes at my weight and, you know what? I'm at peace with what i look like. I'm actually really bloody happy. Don't get us wrong, I have bad days, I'd be lying completely if I said I felt confident every day but I would say 99 per cent of the time, I do.

"And tat's why I've re-posted them pictures, because I know, once upon a time I would have looked at those pictures and I wouldn't have wanted to go out the house; I would have felt embarrassed, I would have tried to get them taken down, I'd have cried...baby I was living my best life on that holiday with my little sister, Yes, they're unflattering pictures, but I don't care!"
