Scarlett Moffatt began romancing her police officer lover after he responded to her call for help.
The I’m A Celebrity winner told how Scott Dobinson was an arresting sight when he turned up on her doorstep after she reported seeing a stranger outside.
Scarlett, 30, has previously said that she had known Scott for years – and she was delighted when he turned up to investigate her concerns.
She told how the 36-year-old constable was despatched to her home after she called police to say she was scared.
Scarlett said: “I had a weird pap who was trying to take photos inside my house so I rang the local police station. Scott came to the house to deal with that.
“My friend was in the house with me at the time and I was like, ‘He’s so fit, I really fancy him’. She said, ‘Why don’t you just comment on a picture on Facebook?’
“So I commented on a picture of him and his dog Toby and put, ‘Ah, cute… and the dog’. I’d had a couple of drinks.
“In the morning, I was like, ‘I can’t believe I’ve done that!’ But he commented back with a smiley face and we started chatting on Facebook Messenger. We’d known each other a long time.”
Impatient Scarlett, who lives in County Durham, said Scott took “too long” to ask her out – but she admitted that her first date
with the police officer didn’t go to plan.
She told a podcast: “Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. The place we were going to eat at wasn’t open and he made a joke about taking me to McDonald’s, which I didn’t know was a joke.
“He told me I reminded him of Albert Einstein, so I was like, ‘Nah, I think we’re just best as friends’.
“It was my mam that went, ‘I’ve got a good feeling, I think you should give him another chance’ – so I’m pleased she did.
“With Scott, obviously I fancy him, but he’s just a lovely person. It’s taken me a while to get used to not having drama.”
Former checkout girl Scarlett had several failed romances before she began dating Scott in December 2018.
Last year she said the couple didn’t have sex for the first six weeks of the pandemic because of the health risks from Scott’s frontline policing role.
