Scarlett Johansson opens popcorn shop in Paris

It is routine for actors to get bored of, well, acting, and use their privileged position to try their hand at other endeavours. But while these typically short-lived toe-dipping-endeavours tend to take the erudite form of directing, screenwriting, music and art, Scarlett Johansson has  decided to pursue a less well-trodden path and turn her attentions to the food industry.

The 31-year-old actor, who is known for her roles in Lost In Translation and Girl With A Pearl Earring is opening a popcorn shop in Paris and will even be doing the honours of serving the customers herself. Jumping on the latest food fad, Johansson’s shop will serve gourmet popcorn in an array of flavours, including everything from real Vermont cheddar to truffle, parmesan and sage.

Johansson’s business venture has been launched alongside her French husband Romain Dauriac and it is Dauriac's sister who will manage the shop.

The shop, which has been christened Yummy Pop, will be located in the heart of the Marais in the French city. If it is indeed successful they hope to expand and open up several others.

Johansson’s shop will have a so-called “soft opening” this Saturday and close until its grand opening sometime in the near future.
