The brand new incarnation of the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth, hits cinemas tomorrow and it’s a non-stop thrill-ride. Not just for viewers, but also for its new cast who had a belter of a time filming the movie.
Ahead of the film’s release, I caught up with Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo to discuss their on-set experience and it sounds as exhilarating as you’d imagine being chased by dinosaurs would be.
“The situations we found ourselves in were kind of extraordinary,” Bailey, who plays palaeontologist and ‘slutty glasses’ aficionado Dr. Henry Loomis, told PEDESTRIAN.TV, with Johansson, who plays secret agent Zora Bennett, adding: “Like, absurd.”
The Wicked star then recounted wading through mangroves in “uncharted territory” to film a scene, before sinking into a “plunge hole”.

The Black Widow actress then shared her own bonkers story which involved a water jet that Bailey says was “dialled up to 11”.
“Very terrible things happen to you every day, physically, which was really amazingly hilarious,” ScarJo said.
“We had these water jets that sprayed us – I have never in my entire life felt anything like that. I was split in half by this water jet, I had water coming out of every orifice,” she said, with Bailey adding with a laugh: “You were a water feature.”
Elsewhere, Garcia-Rulfo revealed his co-star Luna Blaise – who plays his hella tough daughter – once came across a huge snake during filming.
“Everyday was something,” he said. “Either somebody got hurt or someone encountered a huge snake in the room.”
Having been lucky enough to cop a sneak peek at the film ahead of its release, I can assure lovers of the previous flicks that you’re in for the same magic you’ve experienced time and time again.
So WTF is the new iteration about? Here’s a quick lil summary.
Five years after the chaos of Jurassic World Dominion, dinos have been exiled to far-off corners of the world just to stay alive.
Enter Zora Bennett (ScarJo) and Duncan Kincaid (Ali) — lowkey badass operatives who get pulled into a top-secret mission by pharma boss Martin Krebs (Friend). Alongside dino expert Dr. Henry Loomis (Bailey), they head to a remote island to collect bio-material from the dinos — all in the name of making a miracle drug that could cure major diseases. Sounds chill, right? Yeah… not so much.
Cue a deadly and edge-of-your-seat adventure, filled with dinosaurs ranging from cute to killer.
Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, Jurassic World Rebirth blends nostalgia with fresh thrills, delivering a visually spectacular adventure that pays homage to the original while charting a new course for the franchise.
Jurassic World Rebirth hits cinemas July 3.
