Scarlett Johansson gives birth to first child with husband Colin Jost

Scarlett Johansson has welcomed her second child.

The actress' rep confirmed the happy news to People magazine, saying she "recently" gave birth.

The baby is her first child with her husband Colin Jost, who she married in October last year, and she is already mother to daughter Rose Dorothy, six, who she shares with French journalist ex-husband Romain Dauriac.

Colin later confirmed that they'd had a son, who they have named Cosmo.

Rumours that Scarlett, 36, was pregnant first started back in early July, when she skipped out on several events for her Marvel film Black Widow.

When she appeared on The Tonight Show to chat with Jimmy Fallon in June she was only filmed from the shoulders up.

She later was later filmed doing the same thing when she made another TV appearance, this time on Seth Meyers' show.

A source told Page Six in July: "Scarlett is pregnant but has been keeping it very quiet. She has been keeping a very low profile."

The source continued: "She hasn’t been doing many interviews or events to promote Black Widow which is surprising since it is a huge Marvel/Disney release and she is both the star and an executive producer."

Just last weekend, Colin said the couple are "excited" to become parents together.

It appeared to finally be confirmation of Scarlett's pregnancy.

He made the comments a stand-up show that was held at Ridgefield Playhouse in Connecticut in the US over the weekend.

"We're having a baby, it's exciting," he said, according to Page Six.

Scarlett and Colin got married in a low-key ceremony held at her home in New York back in October last year.

She was previously married to Romain from 2014 to 2017 and Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011.

She had said she wanted to have an intimate ceremony, which was scaled back due to coronavirus restrictions.

"I think just keeping it intimate and small made it feel intentional," she told People magazine about the ceremony.

"We wanted it to feel like it had an intentional intimacy as opposed to being something that felt like we were restricted by all these things."

She added: "And there was a lot to take into consideration because of all of the CDC guidelines and making sure everybody was comfortable and safe, following all the COVID protocol."

Congratulations Scarlett and Colin!
