Scarlets v Benetton team news: Outstanding Welsh youngster returns as Jake Ball and Ryan Elias also feature

Jac Morgan returns for the Scarlets after a 10-week layoff when the Welsh club host Benetton in the Guinness PRO14 on Saturday (3pm).

A knee injury has sidelined the highly rated young flanker since the Heineken Champions Cup match against Bath on December 12.

Morgan was outstanding in that match, losing nothing in comparison to England openside Sam Underhill as he achieved turnovers and put in multiple tackles. He had previously put in 30 hits in a match-winning performance against Connacht.

The Scarlets have missed him during his time out, with James Davies also out and now Josh Macleod on the casualty list as well as Blade Thomson and Aaron Shingler.

Former Wales U20s captain Morgan packs down in a back row that includes another returnee from injury, Sione Kalamafoni, while Ryan Elias and Jake Ball will add further forward ballast after being released from Wales duty for the weekend.

Behind the scrum, Steff Evans has recovered from a leg injury, with Tyler Morgan also fit again and Sam Costelow and Dane Blacker lining up at half-back.

Head coach Glenn Delaney said: “We have had a productive few weeks since the Leinster. It is important we are patient and we have to build ourselves into the contest, which we did well in a tight affair in horrendous conditions out in Treviso.

“There is a huge amount to play for in these final four games. European places are on the line. It’s going to be a real scrap in our pool.”

The Scarlets are missing 18 players, with 10 out through injury and the rest away with Wales.

Scarlets: J. McNicholl; R. Conbeer, T. Morgan, S. Hughes (capt), S. Evans; S. Costelow, D. Blacker; P. Price, R. Elias, J. Sebastian, J. Ball, M. Jones, U. Cassiem, J. Morgan, S. Kalamafoni.

Reps: M. Jones, S. Thomas, P. Scholtz, S. Lousi, E. Kennedy, W. Homer, D. Jones, P. Asquith.
