Scarlets v Bayonne team news: Brad Mooar welcomes back Welsh rugby's man of moment and two other Test stars

Wales trio Wyn Jones, Jake Ball and Gareth Davies will make their first appearances of the season for the Scarlets when the west Walians face Bayonne in Saturday’s European Challenge Cup encounter in Llanelli (7.45pm).

All will return to the regional fold with their reputations enhanced after strong efforts at the global tournament in Japan.

Jones could actually make a claim to being Welsh rugby’s man of the moment after his player-of-the-game display for Wales against the Barbarians, crowned by an extraordinary turn of pace and majestic pass for Josh Adams’ second try.

Ball also had a rock-solid World Cup and Davies proved lethal in attack in the early matches.

Scarlets head coach Brad Mooar has made 10 changes in all to the side that beat Bayonne in the south of France last weekend.

Johnny McNicholl is rested, so Ryan Conbeer gets the nod on the right wing, while another of the Scarlets’ young backs, Corey Baldwin, features alongside skipper Steff Hughes in midfield.

There is a first competitive appearance of the campaign for Angus O’Brien, who has overcome a knee issue to partner Davies in a new-look half-back pairing.

Jones packs down alongside Ryan Elias and Javan Sebastian, and a back-row reshuffle sees Lewis Rawlins come in at blindside.

Teenage flanker Jac Morgan will make his first start for the Scarlets, having impressed off the bench in his previous outings this season, while Josh Macleod is rested.

The Scarlets are missing 11 men through injury.

Scarlets: L. Halfpenny; R. Conbeer, C. Baldwin, S. Hughes (capt), S. Evans; A. O’Brien, G. Davies; W. Jones, R. Elias, J. Sebastian, J. Ball, S. Lousi, L. Rawlins, J. Morgan, U. Cassiem.

Replacements:   M. Jones, R. Evans, W. Kruger, D. Drake, E. Kennedy, K. Hardy, D Jones, P Asquith.
