Scarlets lock receives ban for violent moment of madness that saw him sent off against Munster

Scarlets second row Sam Lousi has been banned for five weeks after punching two Munster players earlier this month.

The moment of madness saw him hit fly-half JJ Hanrahan first before landing one on lock Fineen Wycherley. He was red carded in the 33rd minute of the match and the Scarlets went on to lose 29-10.

A disciplinary panel agreed that Lousi's actions warranted a red card and deemed it a top-end offence, carrying a 10-week entry point.

The ban was cut in half because of the player's previous clean disciplinary record, acceptance of his actions and remorse shown.

Lousi is free to play again on April 5 and will miss Guinness PRO14 clashes with Connacht and the Dragons. He will also miss the European Challenge Cup quarter-final against Toulon.
