Scarface reboot to be directed by Luca Guadagnino with Coen brothers script

Luca Guadagnino is set to direct a Scarfacereboot.

The Call Me By Your Name director is attached to develop the project with Universal, Variety reported on Thursday.

The latest version of the script was penned by brothers Joel and Ethan Coen.

Scarface has had two previous on-screen iterations: one in 1932 and the other in 1983.

The latter was directed by Brian de Palma with a screenplay by Oliver Stone, and stars Al Pacino as Tony Montana.

Steven Bauer, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio also star in the 1983 version, which has become a cult classic.

Guadagnino’s most recent feature film, the supernatural horror art movie Suspiria, came out in 2018.

It stars Dakota Johnson, Tilda Swinton, Mia Goth and many others.

The Coen brothers released The Ballad of Buster Scruggs on Netflix that same year.
