Scar-faced man's 'pitbull' mauls Yorkie to death in horror attack in Scots village

A Yorkshire Terrier has been put to sleep after a vicious attack by a 'pitbull' on a popular cycle path.

The owner of the Yorkie have been left "utterly devastated" following the incident, which took place between Brookfield and Bridge of Weir in Renfrewshire at around 6.3pm on Wednesday.

Police are now hunting the owners of the offending dog, that was off its lead, including a scar-faced man thought to be around 30-years-old.

He is also described as being around 5ft 4inches tall, of medium build and was wearing a royal blue zipper.

Officers also want to trace a female, in her late 20s, who is around 5ft 8inches tall, of thin build and has long brown hair.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "About 6.30pm on Wednesday, August 28 on the cycle path between Brookfield and Bridge of Weir a pitball type dog off the lead attacked a Yorkshire Terrier.

"The injuries were so serious the little dog had to be put to sleep. The owner is utterly devastated.

"Please help us find the owners of the offending dog."

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident 3273 of August 28, 2019.
