Scandalous CCTV as 'unstoppable' Dublin gang 'easily' steal 13 catalytic converters in 3 hour rampage as Gardai investigate

This is the shocking scene which allegedly shows a gang described by locals as being "unstoppable" stealing one of as many as 13 catalytic converters from cars in north Dublin.

Dublin Live understands that Gardai have been making door-to-door enquiries about the thefts which spanned over a four-hour period in the early hours of Monday morning in the Swords area.

But the thug pair were apparently caught on several CCTV cameras by various victims as they carried out the "quick and easy" thefts between 3am and 7am.

A catalytic converter is an exhaust emission control device which reduces toxic gases and pollutants into less-toxic pollutants by catalyzing a redox reaction.

It contains several metals including small amounts of rhodium which is like platinum. This type of metal is very rare and valuable.

One homeowner who posted a video where the above image is from, said that their car had been targeted at 6am.

He said: "I've sent the video footage to Gardai. It sounds like a few more were hit up too. These kind of thefts seem all too easy to stop.

Another said: "It appears about seven or eight were done between Castleview, Ashton, Millers and Glen Ella. If it's the same gang, they seem unstoppable.

A third added: "Gardai told me that as many as 13 were stolen on Sunday night and in the early hours of Monday morning in Swords, awful."

A warning text reads: "If anyone saw or heard anything or if you have any CCTV footage can you contact the Gardai in Swords please.
