Scammers set up fake fundraising page for tragic TikTok star Caitlyn Loane

Scammers have attempted to set up a fake fundraising page in a sick bid to profit from the tragic death of 19-year-old TikTok star Caitlyn Loane.

The social media personality, who had a TikTok following of more than 60,000 people, had gained popularity documenting her life as a livestock farmer on her family’s Latrobe property in Tasmania, with some of her videos attracted more than five million views.

Thanks to sick scammers, the late teenager's family are suffering more trauma as it's reported that con artists have set up a fake crowdfunding account to prey on her loved ones

Caitlyn's mother confirmed to that the grieving family were aware of the fake fundraiser.

"Sadly we have been notified of this [fake] page and implore everyone to not be caught up in it as it is a scam and not in any way authorised by family," Richele Loane informed people on social media.

The heartbroken mother then shared a screenshot of the cover of that fake account, which had used a photograph of her late daughter without permission.

Many branded the page "disgusting" and some revealed that they had fallen victim to the scam.

One woman who had donated funds to the phoney site said she realised something wasn't right when she saw her donation went overseas, to someone called Babu Kahn, a name not known by the family.

Mourning her late daughter, Richele praised her child for showcasing agriculture across the world and said she would be remembered for her :nurturing and caring nature".

"She was just an effervescent person, she loved run up to people and give them a big hug when she saw them."

'"But she was wise beyond her years too," she added.

Caitlyn gained popularity on TikTok thanks to sharing candid videos of her life on the family farm.

As well as posting clips of herself tasting the farm's produce and tending to lambs, she also amused her fans with lip syncs to famous country songs.

In addition to her love of farming and social media, Caitlyn also had a passion for sports and was a keen AFL player and represented the Devonport Football Club.

The Club shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook page expressing sadness of her passing.

'The Board, the members, players, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters of the Devonport Football Club convey our sincere condolences and warmest thoughts to Caitlyn's family and friends, which, of course, includes her teammates in the DFC Senior Women's team," the statement read.

"The past week has put into context what really matters in life, and has reminded us all that football, as unifying as it is, is just a game after all.

"The priority of the Devonport Football Club at present is to provide an empathetic, supportive network to all associated with the club, with particular focus on those most affected by the tragic passing of Caitlyn."
