An elderly woman was left terrified when bogus contractors scammed her out of hundreds of euro after threatening her for over €1,800.
A group of three men knocked on the home of the woman and claimed they had to cut her garden on behalf of Dublin "Corporation".
But once the work was done, they demanded €1,800 from her - and managed to take €370 from her after piling on pressure.
The shocking incident happened in Drumcondra yesterday and left the poor woman very shook up.
The three men were described as wearing "red/orange overalls" and had "country English accents" and drove a "white van with black line markings on the side".
Posting a warning on the Drumcondra Social community page, the woman's son said his mother "nearly died from the shock" and was scared they would come back for more after the incident and urged locals to pass on the warning to those who may be vulnerable.
He said that local police were patrolling the area last night.
