A scammer claiming to be from BT got the shock of his life when he rang a PSNI Sergeant's phone.
The conman was left speechless when the caller responding on the other end informed him he had called the police.
The Bangor-based Sgt said he let the caller 'ramble for a few minutes' about the computer terminal being infected with a virus before breaking the news that he was through to police in Northern Ireland.
Urging the public to inform their elderly family and friends about potential scams, a PSNI Bangor officer posted on Facebook: "A BT scammer has just phoned the duty Sgts phone from the other side of the world and told us our computer terminal is infected with a virus.
"I let him ramble a few minutes before breaking the good news that he was through to the police...
"Not everyone still aware though and we were chatting to an elderly gentleman today who had never heard of scam calls. Not everyone follows the press and social media so important friends and family talk with any potentially vulnerable people they know to pre warn them."
