An Edinburgh man is warning of the dangers of elderly and vulnerable people falling victim to an Amazon scam after he received a fraudulent call himself.
Connor Leadbetter who works as a security officer in Edinburgh was shocked when he received a phone call from someone from Amazon 'regarding his Prime membership.'
He was told over the phone that his Prime membership is 'due to expire' and that he would be charged '£79.99 for 12 months membership' with the money planned to be taken directly from his bank.
He was then asked to press one to be put through to an Amazon manager, however after suspecting the call was suspicious he contacted the real Amazon and the police.
An Amazon representative told Connor: "We don't contact customers by phone regarding Prime membership renewals or discuss any subscriptions with customers via outbound calls."

The Edinburgh Police Division has warned locals about the Amazon scam saying: "Police Scotland have received reports of fake calls from 'Amazon' saying that a button has been clicked & a payment is due as a result.
"You're asked to download an app to check your account, Amazon will NEVER call & ask you to download an app."
Edinburgh local Connor is warning people to "keep an eye out on anyone you know who is vulnerable or elderly" after being targetted by the scam.
Police Scotland is advising people to call 101 if they think they have been called by Amazon scammers.
