These devastating photos show the scale of damage caused after a fire ripped through two houses.
Fire crews were called to the scene on Libra Close in Dovecot at around 1.30pm this afternoon (Saturday) where they arrived to find a semi-detached house with the ground floor up in flames.
The blaze had also spread through the roof space to the property next door. Smoke was seen billowing from the fire as dozens of neighbours gathered outside.

Photos show huge holes in the roofs of both houses affected by the fire. The road was cordoned off while firefighters responded to the incident.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire & Rescue said: "Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house and began fighting the fire with two high pressure hose reels.
"The fire has spread through the roof space to the neighbouring property so an additional two firefighters were fighting fire in this area with a hose reel jet. Merseyside Police are in attendance assisting with traffic management- motorists and residents nearby should avoid the area if possible.
"The main body of fire has now been extinguished and firefighters are damping down internally and externally."
