Scaffolding blown from flats at Park Quadrant in Glasgow west end as police called to scene

Scaffolding has come loose after being blown from luxury flats under construction in Glasgow's west end.

Photos show a huge, yellow steel structure hanging from the building which is part of the Park Quadrant development on Lyneddoch Street.

Residents reported metal falling from height at around 1pm this afternoon, however, thankfully there have been no reports of any injuries according to the Daily Record.

A source said the site had since been evacuated but some locals were stuck inside neighbouring properties while the area was made safe.

The city has been hit by gusts of up to 26mph today according to Met Office data with some locals struggling through the wind.

Park Quadrant Residences was first envisioned by architect, Charles Wilson in 1851 and now contains some of the most sought after flats in Glasgow.

Andrew Meikle tweeted: "Crazy times, the new Park Quadrant Residences roof scaffolding came down!

"Doesn't look like anyone was injured thankfully! Area is not safe though, would avoid Lynedoch Place on foot or car, stuff still falling down #ParkQuadrantResidences #parkcircus #Windy #Dangerous #Glasgow"

Prices at Park Quadrant Residences start from £405,000.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: "Police were called around 2pm after scaffolding had fallen from a building under construction on Lynedoch Street, Glasgow.

"No danger to public - building is not lived in.

"The road has been closed by the scaffolding contractors at the location who are in the process of securing and removal of same.

"No further police action."
