Scaffolding and generator torched in Scots yard as cops hunt 'reckless' firebugs

A Scots yard had a generator set on fire and was vandalised as police appeal for public help.

The incident occurred around 9.15pm on Monday July 12 in Lusset Glen, Old Kilpatrick.

The yard is located under the Erskine Bridge at the rear of St Patrick's Church and was broken into.

The mobile generator was removed and and set alight along with scaffolding platforms and fencing.

Nine youths, seven males and two females, were seen in the area and Police Scotland officers are keen to speak to them.

Detective Constable Mark Gillies said: “This was a reckless act that caused a considerable amount of damage. It is lucky that no one was injured.

“We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and the youths who were seen in the area as we believe they can help with our enquiries.

“If you can help please contact us via 101, quoting incident 3507 of Monday, 12 July, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
