If you're looking for inspiration for future walking holidays, then you may want to check out Scafell Pike; it's just been named the UK's best walking route for visitors of all abilities, from seasoned hikers to beginners.
The Lake District hotspot topped new rankings released by Peak Cottages, beating out other spots in the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and Snowdonia (you can see the full list below).
The study compared UK trails across a number of factors including the time it takes to cover, elevation, how many rest stops are along the route and even the distance from the nearest car park.
Scafell Pike impressed the most, with the 9.3km-long route earning a rating of 4.5 out of 5. It also scored highly thanks to the number of rest stops to be found along the way, with the study finding that there is a stop available approximately every two kilometres or so.
It's not surprising to see England's highest peak proving so popular. As well as the trail that takes you up the peak and offers up some incredible views of the sprawling countryside, there are plenty of charming villages with quintessential British charm in the region, with everything from cosy pubs and cafes to brilliant B&Bs and campsites.
Scafell Pike itself can actually be accessed from three nearby valleys - Borrowdale, Wasdale and Great Langdale - so you can easily extend the walk if you're looking for a bit more of a challenge.

Shannon Keary, PR Manager at Peak Cottages, weighed in on the study: "Given the big increase in walking trail interest over the last year and ever fluctuating guidelines, it’s really encouraging to see how many great walking trails are available across the nation.
"There truly is a walking route for everyone - whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned hiker - and it’s helpful to see them broken down by key metrics so people can easily find a trail suited to their needs."
