SC to constitute bench to hear AAP govt's plea on transfer of Delhi's services secretary

Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to constitute a bench next week to hear the Delhi government's plea relating to the removal of the Secretary of the Delhi government's Services Department.

Delhi government on Friday moved the Supreme Court alleging that the Centre is not implementing the transfer of its services secretary. This comes a day after the apex court ruled that the Delhi government has legislative and executive powers over administration of services except for public order, police and land.

A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha said it would constitute a bench to hear the matter next week after senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Delhi's AAP-led government mentioned the matter.

Singhvi mentioned the matter before a bench of the Chief Justice and Justice P S Narasimha, saying the top court delivered the judgment just yesterday and now there can be contempt. (with Agency inputs)
