
Heart-shaped kamaboko fish cakes are seen at a factory of the Umekama company in Toyama. The fish cakes are to be shipped for Valentine's Day on Feb. 14. The company began selling the seasonal product about 30 years ago, utilizing the decorative skills of locals to appeal to people who do not like sweets. The company will distribute 1,600 Valentine's kamaboko in 17 different styles to department stores and other shops in Toyama Prefecture.
