Sawn-off shotgun seized after shots fired at house in Ballymun, north Dublin

A sawn-off shotgun and two used shells have been seized by gardai after shots were fired at a house in north Dublin during the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:55am on Sunday in the Shangan area of Ballymun.

There are reports that following the incident, three males were seen fleeing the scene.

It comes just one day after shots were fired at another house in the same area in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí investigating the discharging of a firearm at a house in the Shangan Terrace area of Ballymun, that occurred on 28/07/19 at approximately 2:55am, have recovered a sawn off shotgun and two used shot gun cartridges.

"An upstairs window of the property was smashed in this incident. No injuries were sustained. It is reported that a group of three males were seen running from the scene.

"Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Ballymun Garda Station on 01 666 64400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111. 

"The firearm will be forensically examined. Investigations are continuing."
