Sawn-off shotgun found hidden behind water trough in Clogheen, Co Cork

Gardai are following "a definite line of inquiry" after recovering a gun in Cork on Friday morning.

The District Detective Unit from Anglesea Street found the sawn-off double barrel shotgun on private property at around 8.30am in a field in the Clogheen area.

The firearm was concealed behind a water trough in a field, Cork Beo reports.

The weapon was confirmed safe by Detective Gardaí and brought to Gurranabraher Garda Station.

Investigations are ongoing.
