Savvy woman shares shopping tip to save money while buying clothes this year

A woman has taken to social media to share a helpful shopping tip when buying clothes throughout the year.

While it can be very satisfying to take advantage of a good sale, they're not always the best time to make a purchase - even though it might seem like you're getting a good deal.

Especially at the moment, when the Christmas sales are soon coming to an end and there are plenty of cheap goodies up for grabs in the shops. According to TikTokker @duchessofthrift, you shouldn't go too crazy and try taking a different approach instead.

The money-saving influencer often posts handy videos detailing how families can save money during the current cost of living crisis.

One of her recent videos has racked up thousands of views, as she advises how people can cut their spends on clothes and other seasonal items throughout the year.

In the clip, she said: "Forget the sales at the moment - you don't need Christmas stuff, you'll put it away and forget about it. The next thing you're going to be thinking about is summer."

She then described how shopping "out of season" is one of the best things you can do to save money, especially when you're buying clothes second hand.

The woman showed off several screenshots of items like summer dresses, shoes, and bikinis on the Vinted app - all of which were only being sold for a couple of pounds. Some even had the tags still on and were from the likes of Zara and Boohoo.

She explained: "Demand drives prices up, even on used clothes and pre-loved clothes. These are so cheap because it's winter.

"So if there is summer stuff that you need I'd say that in the deepest, darkest depths of winter, it's the time to start looking for the bargains."

This tip can easily be altered, so no matter if you're in summer or winter, just be on the lookout for clothes that aren't in season.

It wasn't just clothes that were coming up cheap, as she also showed off some summer essentials on Amazon like sun loungers and barbecues that were massively reduced.

The sun loungers had a 40% off sale on, while there were plenty of barbecues for under £50 - which she explained were a great cheap alternative for oven cooking in the summer.

The comments were soon full of people praising the woman for her advice, with one person saying: "Going to try and do the same. You're right, bought our patio set in winter."

And another said: "Going to have a little look at Vinted later for a few bits. Thanks for the heads up."

A third person commented: "I bought a bbq on Facebook marketplace a few years back. I got it in the October as they were moving and only asked £5!"
